After a disappointing loss during the national championships, local wheelchair basketball team are ready to come back together and give their all in the forthcoming season. In community-supported wheelchair basketball programs across the country, players push each other physically, mentally and emotionally in order to succeed against the odds, struggling with the challenges of dedicating oneself to a sport that does not garner the recognition or resources granted to other professional athletic organizations—wheelchair basketball is all too often regarded as a sort of charity instead of the riveting competitive sport that it is. The Miami Heat Wheels are ready for their second shot at winning the nationals, but lack of funds and personal problems threaten to put an end to the dream before the season reaches its tension-riddled conclusion.

Set in the island Kinmen, often seen as the most dangerous military base because it’s geographically close to China, “Paradise in Service” follows the adventure of a boy who serves his military service in Unit 831 from 1969 to 1972, in preparation for a war that could erupt anytime. Through an unlucky lottery draw result, Pao, a twenty-something young man from Southern Taiwan has to serve the military in the remote and perilous Kinmen. Moreover, he is assigned to the Sea Dragon (ARB), a unit noted for the toughest physical training. It never occurs to Pao, however, that the greatest challenge in his military service lies not in the Sea Dragon but in Unit 831, a special task he is later appointed to… In this peculiar assignment, Pao vows to keep his virginity against all odds.

Despite doctor’s grim prognosis over the next 16 years Aaron decided not to listen to those who said ‘he had a million-to-one odds of ever feeding himself again’ and instead, through painstaking effort, endeavored to regain as much mobility as possible. This journey through the unknown took him from the depths of depression to the joys of cross country road tripping via tandem bicycle with his mother and friends, and finally, culminated in his opening a socially conscious low cost gym focused on increasing mobility for the disabled. Now in Coming To My Senses we watch as Aaron takes one final journey which symbolizes his recovery: to cross a 20 mile tract of Death Valley unsupported on foot. But will he make it?
